| Thomas Mayhew, called "yeoman", probably became a resident of Tisbury through the marriage of his father Robert to Joan Bridmore of Tisbury, and likely inherited her estate there, while the eldest son retained the Mayhew property in Dinton. He was taxed for "goods", as of the Tithing of Tisbury in 1540. In a Deposition dated 30-31 Elizabeth (ie 1589) this Thomas Mayhew deposed at age 80 to events and persons known to him in the Parish of Tisbury for the past 63 years and more. Thus he was born about 1509 and was likely born in Tisbury. He was buried at Tisbury June 1, 1590. "Ales, wyffe of Thomas Maow" was buried July 14,1586.9 |
