Josiah Soule, grandson of George of the Mayflower--
The actual birth date of Josiah is not found. However, by every calculation (besides Ridlon) he must have been born after his father married Esther (Nash) Sampson, 1678. Ridlon says Josiah was born in 1682 at Duxbury. The Vital Records of Duxbury (1911) give his death as Jan. 25,1764 aged 84y, 6m,". He married on May 25,1704 to Lydia Delano, daughter of John and Mary Delano.
Lydia died Nov. 23,1763 aged 83y, 6m." The brothers Joseph, Josiah and Joshua worked together shipbuilding, trading, bankfishing, whale hunting and general navigation. Two ships, the Seaflower and the Dolphin, were among several that they built, sailed and called the Soule Fleet.
Ridlon says Josiah and Lydia Soule had seven children. Delano (1899)5, The Vital Redords of Duxbury, and the Mayflower Index agree on six children, all born in Duxbury.
