Drag Functions for Exterior Ballistics
The drag curves for small projectiles were all emperically derived by
the gentlemen for whom the curves are named. Not that much difference
exists between the curves (good news since even though
the physics behind the drag curves is not fully understood to the point of
having deterministic formula(s), one would hope that emperical measurements
would be repeatable!). The following pictures show the three drag functions
selectable with this exterior ballistics program. The "Ingalls" curve is
a modified Mayevski function.
All curves are for "standard" conditions - sea level, 59 degrees F, etc.
Drag functions for velocities up to 5000 fps.
