| From Allison Butts (1898)8 we learn that Thomas Butts came to America May 18,1660 from Norfolk, England. He lived at Portsmouth and Little Compton, R.I. which were then in Massachusetts and a part of the Plymouth Colony. His name is left in several land records of Portsmouth and Little Compton between 1662 and 1698. He died in 1703 leaving a will which was proved Feb. 2,1703 and is recorded in the Probate Office at Taunton, Bristol Co. Mass. in Book 2, p. 71. He names his beloved wife, Elizabeth, as sole executrix. Nothing more is known of her lineage. They had four children. |
