The holes are first drilled out to 1/4". 1" holes must be drilled in the bottom of the chassis to access the bottom of the seat mount studs and thread on the nuts. The seat mount studs are 5/16", but my hole saw uses a 1/4" pilot. So I drive the 1/4" bit through the top and on through the bottom of the car.
